Peak Design Camera Strap Leash – A Review
Perfect Camera Strap for a Mirror-less. Can’t go back to an ordinary one
The other day, I wrote about how the Leash Camera Strap arrived before the Everyday Backpack and Everyday Sling.
Honestly, I bought the Leash without thinking too much about it.
The main dish, so to say, is the Everyday Backpack and Sling.
Frankly speaking, I was a bit disappointed when I found out that the package I had received was the Leash and not the Everyday Backpack.
But I wanna take all that back!
The Leash is really really good!
Today I’m reviewing the Leash.
Peak Design Camera Strap Leash – Review
When I hear the word “Leash”, I think about a thin rope that’s tied around a dog’s neck.
From the name, I’m assuming that the Leash was designed to be used with point and shoot cameras like the RX100 and mirror-less cameras like the Nex 6.
I’m using mine with the Nex 6.
I’ll be “using it“ but I won’t have it attached to the camera all the time.
I only plan on attaching it when I need to have the camera around my neck.
You may be thinking, that’s such a pain in the ass to take on and off after every use.
In fact it isn’t.
The Leash gets rid of all that hassle.
How?
I want to summarize my Top 3 reasons why the Leash is so awesome, including how it gets rid of the hassle!
Top 3 reasons why the Leash is so awesome
- Attaching to and detaching from the camera is super easy
- Adjusting the strap is super easy
- Looks good
1. Attaching to and detaching from the camera is super easy
With normal straps, you probably tie on the straps to hooks that are attached to the camera.
With this, yes it’s a hassle to take on and off.
The Leash has a quick release function(Anchor Link Quick-Connection System)which allows instant attachment/detachment.
Attaching the strap only when you’re using it becomes a feasible option.
The Leash comes with 4 quick release anchors so you can have them on 2 cameras at once.
I normally don’t use a strap so a roll it up nice and compact and I put it in my bag pocket.
2. Adjusting the strap is super easy
When you want to change from carrying the camera in front of you to carrying it across your body, you might want to adjust the length of the strap for a better fit.
With the straps that I used, I had to make small adjustments with tiny adjusters towards the end of the strap and it took forever.
The Leash lets you adjust the length of the strap instantly.
The strap is made out of super smooth material and the adjuster just glides along the strap.
Adjusting the strap while its around your shoulder is super easy.
3. Looks goods
Even if a strap was highly functional, if it looked like a champion belt or if it had a strange logo on it, it wouldn’t grow on me.
The Peak Design Leash is slim (but not too slim that its not functional) and I think it looks good for a camera strap!
You can conveniently carry around your camera and it won’t ruin your “look”.
Summary
I am very happy with my purchase of the Leash.
After getting the Everyday Backpack and Everyday Sling, I started carrying my camera around with the strap off.
I’ll be using the Leash when I go out exploring with my camera without my bags!
How to get your Peak Design Leash
They have it on Amazon!
You can also get it directly from the Peak Design Website.
If you’re just getting the strap, it’s $34.95 so considering the weak yen ($1=118 yen as of this post)and shipping cost, getting it from Amazon might be cheaper.
If you’re getting other things like the Everyday Backpack and Everyday Sling along with the Leash, it’s definitely cheaper getting it directly from the Peak Design website.
They ship to Japan too!
