Got Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Earth on StockX! Were they fake or real?

The Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Earth model was released in the Americas only

Yeezy has been doing these types of releases lately and living in Japan, I had to go the extra mile to get a hold of this model.

I tried to get them on Yeezy Supply with no luck so I tried out StockX for the first time.

If you buy directly from Adidas, you don’t have to worry about fake models.

But when you buy using StockX, you start introducing various intermediaries so you can’t be sure that you’ll receive a legit pair until the product arrives.

Keep on reading till the end to find out if I was able to get my hands on a legit pair of Yeezys.

What is StockX?

StockX is like a crypto currency or stock exchange where you trade with Asks and Bids.

The only difference is, you’re trading sneakers instead.

StockX is a US based service, founded in 2015 in the state of Detroit.

As of August 2019, StockX appears to employee 800 people so that is amazing growth.

How StockX works is, the seller and buyer of sneakers enter their Asks and Bids into the system and when the prices match, an order is filled.

When an order is filled, the seller sends the product to StockX.

StockX will inspect the product once it arrives, to make sure that it is legit and is in good condition.

Products that pass the inspection are then sent to the buyer.

If the product does not pass inspection for some reason, the transaction is cancelled and payment is not needed.

The quality assurance aspect of the service is allowing users to trade with confidence on the platform.

However, some fake sneakers are built so well that it’s hard to tell the difference between a fake and a legit one.

An inspection can never be 100% accurate.

Disputes on the platform seem to occur frequently from buyers complaining that they received fakes, or shoes that were already used.

I wasn’t sure if the Yeezy Earth that I got was going to be legit until they arrived.

The shoes come with a StockX tag attached as evidence that an inspection was performed.

Once the tag is removed, you lose rights to returns and claims.

After comparing the shoes to other Yeezys that I own, I can say with confidence that these are in fact legit.

That’s a relief.

Newer models have a lower risk of fakes so that is something to consider.

It took about a week for the product to arrive.

The process that seemed to take the most time was the product moving from the seller to StockX.

This took a few days without getting and notice so I remember getting a little worried.

After that everything was smooth.

StockX sends email updates as the transaction progresses so that is reassuring.

Regarding cost, the shoes were $290, shipping cost to Japan was $40, fees to StockX was $5.90, with a total of $340.90

That is a little more than what it would cost to get a new pair from Adidas Japan so ok by me.

I’ll consider using StockX again in the future when there is a pair of sneakers that are hard to get.
