bellroy Travel Wallet and Passport Sleeve (a review)

The bellroy card pocket that I reviewed previously turned out to be a really good wallet.

So good that I added the Travel Wallet and Passport Sleeve to my line up.

Here goes the review!

Travel wallets make traveling abroad so much easier

You can use it for doing things like:

• carry your passport
• carry your boarding pass
• carry foreign currency
• carry ATM cards and metro cards that you’ll be using at your destination
• carry itineraries
• carry SIM cards that you’ll be using at your destination

I used to use a TUMI one but it was massive and a pain in the butt to carry.

I was always on the lookout for a smaller, but functional travel wallet and that is how I came about the bellroy Travel Wallet.

What you need to know about the bellroy Travel Wallet

The bellroy Travel Wallet is like a bi-fold wallet big enough to carry a passport.

Key features are:

• dedicated passport pocket for easy access
• 7 card pockets
• mini pen with refill ink
• 2 compartments for bills, big enough for boarding pass
• slot for SIM card カード and SIM card pin

Material

Made out of leather, made in India.

Build Quality

It’s not the best I’ve seen (sewing is not good, you can also see glue) but that doesn’t make me hate the product.

I’ll have to see how it’ll hold up from actual use.

When you use the SIM card slot, make sure you don’t push the SIM card in all the way.
You won’t be able to get it out.
Just leave the edge of the card sticking out for easy access.

Functionality

Looks very promising.

Lets move over what was in the TUMI.

It’s this slim with everything inside!

It’s bigger than a normal bi-fold so I’ll probably move what I’ll be using at my destination when I get there to a smaller wallet (card pocket would be perfect) and keep the Travel Wallet in my suit case.

I’ve also found this thing to be handy even when I’m not traveling.
I currently keep the Card Pocket in my pocket and stash the Travel Wallet in my bag with cards that I don’t use often.

What you need to know about the bellroy Passport Sleeve

Strip down the Travel Wallet to its bare essentials and you get the Passport Sleeve.

It’s more of a passport case than a travel wallet.

Key features are:

• Pocket for passport (super easy access with pull out tab)
• 2 card pockets
• boarding pass pocket (carry folded)
• mini pen with refill

Material

Made out of leather, made in India.

Build Quality

It appears to be more durable than the Travel Wallet due to the simpler structure.

Functionality

Doesn’t have much carrying power so its for people that only carry a passport and a few cards when they’re on the go.

This is what it looks like with cards and a passport. Really compact!

Pull the tab on the back for easy access to your passport.

I personally need more carrying power so I’ll be using the Travel Wallet.

Summary

I’ve gone through a lot of wallets during the past few months but I think I can now finally settle down.

I think I’m going with the 

• bellroy card pocket
• bellroy Travel Wallet
